Reiki (Rei "ray" Universal Life Energy) (Ki "kee" Breath, Life Force)
Reiki (pronounced “Ray-kee) is a Japanese word meaning universal life energy and life force. Reiki is a gentle method of hands on healing that taps into the energy that is referred to as Ki in Japan Chi in China and Parana in India. The practice of Reiki is based on the teachings of Mikao Usui. Mikao Usui practiced and taught healing techniques in the early twentieth century Japan.
Reiki is a hands on healing technique for both chronic and acute conditions. Reiki is not a massage or hypnosis. A Reiki practitioner can not diagnose illness. Reiki gently and powerfully promotes balance to all the body’s systems Mind, Body and Spirit. Research strongly suggests that disruptions or imbalances in our energy flow correlate to physical mental and emotional illness. The healing energy of Reiki helps bring your energies back into balance to support your over all good health and well – being.
What to expect during a Reiki Session:
While receiving Reiki most people will lie fully clothed on a massage table. Very little to no pressure at all is applied by the hands of the Reiki Practitioner. Focused, your Reiki Practitioner will simply place his or her hands on or above your head, shoulders, chest, stomach and limbs following a series of hand positions. The universal energy flows, not from the Practitioner but rather through the Practitioner to you. This allows you to receive the amount of energy that you need to bring your Mind Body and Spirit into balance. Although the techniques of Reiki appear to be simple the effects can be very profound. Most people experience a deep relaxation. Some might describe it as a serene state. You may feel warmth and comfort, a tingling sensation, pulsing, or you may even fall asleep. Your results may be subtle. Reiki recipients claim to feel little during their session, but after wards enjoy a sense of calm and well-being and a deep restful sleep. Some recipients experience powerful sensations or emotions during or after a session.
